Hi I’m Mckenzie, but you can call me
MAC
Mac’s Photos
I am a film photographer based out of Tucson, Arizona and completed my BFA at the University of Arizona.
As a kid, the only thing I wanted was to live in an any story I could get my hands on. First it was movies, as the VCR set was conveniently placed in my room for the first 10 years of my life. I watched movies far into the night.
Next, it was books. I would read all night, literally. I turned nocturnal for a whole summer and came back to school with over 50 books under my belt. I never knew how to find balance when it came to stuff like that.
Though these two mediums have never left me, I found another escape through photography. The process itself has never stopped feeling like magic to me. And it wasn’t until my first darkroom class in high school that I really thought I could make photography my profession. My favorite style starting out was surrealism. I couldn’t let go of this idea of storytelling and escapism. It shapes all of my work today.
